In 1986, The Harrington Hotel opened amid much fanfare - quickly becoming the area's preeminent hotel. It was an exciting, energetic place, acclaimed by all who experienced it. As you walk through the front doors of The Harrington and into the beautiful lobby, it is difficult not to be in awe of its elegance. The marble columns, grand oak staircase and carved fireplace are unparalleled in most buildings today. It is no wonder that such notables as Harry and Bess Truman, Thomas Edison, Henry Ford and Mickey Rooney chose to stay at The Harrington during their visits to the Port Huron area. As a result of its prominence and historical significance, The Harrington was chosen to be on the National Register of Historic Sites.
